A Cuban man who federal investigators said was wanted in Spain after being accused in the death of his boss, who was killed with an ax, was arrested in a traffic stop on Florida’s Turnpike in Miami.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Abdel Roca Teijelo, 37, was wanted on an international murder and robbery warrant issued in August.

Officials said that according to the provisional arrest warrant, the body of Teijelo's boss, Ruben Joaquin Fauste Elvira, and an ax were found in a sarcophagus at a café in Saragossa, Spain, on June 30 after neighbors reported a smell coming from the business.

Police determined that Elvira had been killed by several ax blows to the head.

Spanish authorities said Teijelo and an accomplice, both of whom worked for Elvira, were scheduled to have a meeting at the café on the evening of June 10, and no one heard from Elvira after that.

ICE officials said that according to Spanish authorities, the accomplice rented two vans on June 13 and bought building materials, which he and Teijelo took to the café. Investigators claimed Teijelo and the accomplice used the materials to build the sarcophagus.

Teijelo appeared in federal court in Miami on Wednesday and was set to appear before a magistrate Friday. ICE said the U.S. Marshals Service will keep custody of Teijelo until he is turned over to Spanish authorities.
